Prestigious Local Literary Magazine Launches New Edition

Pushing Out the Boat, North-East Scotland’s Magazine of New Writing and the Visual Arts, launches Issue 13 on 26 April, followed by readings at Aberdeen University’s Mayfestival. Much has been achieved by the magazine’s volunteer team since their previous edition: now a Scottish Charity, ‘for the advancement of the arts, heritage & culture’, they’ve also launched an online Submissions system, and fully funded the magazine for the first time ever.

In 96 pages of selected stories, poems and art, 57 writers and artists, many from or with connections to the local area, are introduced in a Foreword by acclaimed writer Esther Woolfson. The first-time published are represented, as well as youngsters aged from 12 to 17, side-by-side their established peers.

After its launch, this new edition of Pushing Out the Boat can be read in public and school libraries of both City and Shire, and those of Aberdeen’s Universities and Colleges. The magazine retails in many local galleries, shops and cafés throughout the North East, and costs £7 [plus post and packing when ordering via its website, which is accepting pre-orders NOW.
