Photographer Laurence Winram has been invited by Grampian Hospitals Art Trust (GHAT) to exhibit his latest body of work in the Small Gallery at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary/

Born and raised locally, Laurence is a professional photographer who is now based in Edinburgh.

Shadow is series of portraits which was initiated a few months ago as a collaboration between Laurence and the models within his work, with a number of the image ideas coming from the models themselves.

How as an artist or cultural organisation can you can you find out what opportunities exist or what is needed from you?

Why Art? Where  Art? What Art? How Art?

“Art and artists are inspiring … they offer ways of expressing complicated feelings … They can open up whole new horizons for people who feel they have very few.  They make a place look nice.  They make people feel good about themselves. Art projects can break … patterns of failure … by encouraging people to look at their situations with fresh eyes” Lord Andrew Mawson “The Social Entrepeneur: Making communities Work”.

We are all Creative – This is your invitation to become part of “The Big Creative Aberdeen Picture”  being opened by BBC Scotland’s Fiona Stalker on 16th June 2015 at 12.00-3.00 Instant Neighbour’s Home Comforts Store at Union Square :

Where I want Art” to events@acvo.org.uk  We will  send you details of the day which will include Case Studies and an Expert Panel and options to  get involved.

–  Book free places  to take part in the Big Creative Aberdeen Picture event on 16th June. We will together create a picture focussing on the individual Localities that most concern you.

–  Become a Big Creative Aberdeen Resource and help with materials or donations for a giant collage – it might depict art in a park, in a building, on a website, at an event –  use your imagination and think what you can recycle or reuse! – or volunteer on the day! Email the title  “Big Aberdeen Resources” to events@acvo.org.uk if you can.

–  To get involved as an artist or cultural group and be an integral part of the event  email the title “What art” to events@acvo.org.uk and we will explore ideas with you.

Win a Trip to Norway!

Norway
The latest season of Northern Arc concerts in Aberdeen’s Music Hall will transport their audiences to Norway – literally in the case of one lucky concert goer.

For Aberdeen Performing Arts, Wideroe airlines and Victoria Hotel are offering Northern Arc concert-goers prize of a weekend trip for two people to Stavanger, simply by enjoying at least two of the three concerts. The winning name will be drawn after the last concert of the series in June.
APA Northern Arc spring series includes:
Saturday 7 February: Karine Polwart with Sigrid Moldestad

Friday 3 April: Karen Matheson Band with Erlend Viken Trio

Saturday 27 June: Lau with Valkyrien Allstars

Celebrating the Nordic soul, the series is not just about music and the pre-show events in the Music Hall café includes presentations about Norwegian traditions, artists and links between Scotland and Norway. The other links are already well established as Wideroe airlines operate 6 flights daily from Aberdeen to Norway – to both Stavanger and Bergen – making them ideal weekend break destinations.
